How C-FLASH came to be
In April 2001, a group of Florida Saluki owners banded together to make their vision of a regional club that could offer support and speciality shows for Salukis come true. From meager beginnings, the club - then called FLASH (Florida Association of Saluki Hounds) grew from a handful to more than 50 members. In 2003 the AKC granted us B-OB status and changed our geographic area from the entire state to just central Florida. Thus we became the Central Florida Association of Saluki Hounds or C-FLASH.
By 2006, we'd completed the requirements for B-OB status and were awarded A-OA status. Before the end of 2006 we were granted full Speciality Club status by the AKC.
Every year since 2002 we have sponsored a Hospitality Table at the Saluki Club of America's National Show in Lexington, Kentucky. We have also been very successful with the basket of Florida-themed items we send for auction or raffle, some raising over $300.
Our newsletter, the News-FLASH, is published quarterly for members and it includes minutes from the meetings, articles of interest to Saluki owners, news of new Champions, news of new litters, pictures from shows and matches and a schedule of upcoming events and shows in Florida.
C-FLASH hosted the Eastern Regional in Ocala in 2009 during the Ocala cluster of shows and we held our first Speciality the following day. In 2010 we will offer our dual speciality in Ocala in November.
C-FLASH Salukis participate in many activities which include conformation, obedience, rally, lure coursing and agility. We also have dogs qualified for therapy.
